OLYMPICS-BOUND freestyle swimmer Mark
Chay Jung Jun likes to exercise his mind when he
surfs the World Wide Web -- by playing bridge
online.
The second-year Anglo-Chinese Junior College
student, 18, enjoys the mentally demanding card
game at play.yahoo.com
"I'm a beginner and the site is a good place to learn,"
he says. "You get to play with people of your level
from all around the world.
"What makes it more interesting is... you can chat and
play at the same time."
If bridge is too tedious for you, the site offers other
card and table games, such as chess, checkers and
mahjong.
Another bookmark favourite which he visits most of
the time is www.swimnews.com, a site that posts the
latest results and statistics of swimming meets around
the world.
"There are interviews with swimmers and coaches,
and special columns. It's an all-round site for the
swimming fraternity.
"The site also gives tips on swimming techniques,"
says Mark, who will be competing in the 100-m and
200-m freestyle at the Sydney Olympics.
Besides sports and games, he also spends time on his
junior college's website, www.acjc.edu.sg
You can visit this site to read more about Mark and
his swimming accomplishment.
